God of Goldfish

Late post but I was encouraged to put it up by Joe.
Hopefully I can learn something from doing these challenges.

TV on the Radio

Here's the lead guitarist for a really great band. You should check them out if you haven't already.

Hairy and Scary

He's a rock star!

Rock star good looks

Many don't know of my own rock star background. This is an illustration of I think my fourth world tour. Things had gotten really cloudy by then(that should explain the rainbow background) but i was at the top of my game. I still get nostalgic about those crazy days in the summer of '66. (For Shane: this is not an endorsement of smoking)

Rock on.

That magical KISS could only last so long.

Goddess of Sky and Wind

I know this is a late entry, but after trying to fix it so many ways, I thought I would just leave it. This was a test into a new medium in Painter for me...the pastel brush. I think I like it, but I think I'll have to play with it a lot before I feel comfortable with it.

Aging Rock Star

I have been playing around with a free demo of ArtRage. It is a lot of fun if you like the painterly look. The free version is really simple and forces you to paint directly without layers. I would recomend it for those guys doing the 30 minute painting excercises. It will force you to not cheat ;)

Singer

No, it's not supposed to be anyone in particular. Just your run-of-the-mill, scary old rock star.

God of the Deep

This is a late post for the 'Gods of Nature' subject. It was originally kind of inspired by tattoo art, maybe something an old seasoned sailor would have on his entire back.

New Topic: ROCK STAR

Once again, anything goes---from grizzled old guitarists to pop divas. Have fun!

the great Curling deity

This is my depiction of the great god of Curling. I would be willing to bet that each of us has called upon his good graces at one time or another in our lives. If you haven't, your most likely a failure when it comes to sliding objects on ice toward a target. Here he is in all his glory controlling the curling stones as he often does.

Goddess of fire

Okay, I know the whole Pele thing is a little unoriginal, but it was still fun to do.

Crustacean God

God of fresh water crustaceans and love.

Late I heart you image

With a voice like Barry White and the eating habits of Hannibal Lecter, Uncle Valentine is a very dangerous guy to have a around, but he makes a good baby sitter.

New Topic: GODS OF NATURE

Both general (e.g. god of fire) and specific (e.g. goddess of small, furry rodents) are acceptable. Enjoy!

Optional design principle: Balance
I was going to find definitions and examples of good balance, but there are way too many ways to achieve it to explain them all. But here's one way to achieve balance, compositionally speaking. That should make things easy for those who don't want to explore more.

The Happiest Dog

This is the happiest dog ever. He's pretty cute.

Ultimate cute

I am in this topic to win it. I sat down and thought "What would be the cutest thing in the world?" This is the product of hours of research into "cute". I defy anyone to show me a cuter creature. A cat face, with poodle hair, floppy bunny ears, a baby harp seal arm, a baby monkey arm(think of all the cute things monkeys do), a lamb foot, a duckling foot, and a mouse tail, all dressed up in a bumble bee outfit. Show me a person who's heart doesn't melt and I will show you a monster.

Check mate. New topic please.

Valentine's Bunnies

Like Kevin, I'm a little disturbed by how much I enjoyed drawing and painting this.

Bug n' a Rug

I dare say there is nothing cuter...at least in accordance to my grandma's jargon. She gets her sayings mixed up.

Oh James!

Easily my favorite character from the movie. Nothing can best a lady in a bikini, riding bareback, on a white horse, on the beach, being playfully chased by indigenous children. I figure this is both too cute and Valentines oriented. It also finishes off my Bond stint.

Late villain

A talking toad and an evil hag...with facial hair.

My villain...and hero.

Captain ?

I never got to do a Pirate back in the day when everyone else was doing one, so here's my pirate villain.

New Topic: I HEART U/TOO CUTE FOR COMFORT

This is a double topic, just to give people a little freedom. With Valentines Day coming up, I thought a topic appropriate to the holiday was in order---so anything having to do with love or Valentine's day is good.
However, for those not faint-of-heart, I add the challenge of "Too cute for comfort." You've all seen things that are so cute that they make you want to gag, right? Well, time to try your own hand at making something so cute and happy that goths everywhere will run in fear. I think something that is both unbearably cute AND well-designed will have a particularly strong effect on the masses. Have fun!

No design challenge this time since the topic itself should be challenging enough.

Jakk Frostt

Part villain/part heavy metal hero.

C4 -the great equalizer

He only appears harmless.

"Bowling Hall Bandit"

This is the not so Infamous "Bowling Hall Bandit"

His trademark qualities are:

1) Blatent disregard for bowling hall etiquite.

2) Persistent wearing of non-league uniforms.

3) General hooliganry.

Eagerly Awaiting His Shadow

Round is a line of action, isn't it?
I never think too much of it when this guy calls for an early spring, but each year that he predicts more winter, I'm convinced that he's pure evil. And this winter has seemed so long, that I think any prediction of more winter is straight up villainy.

Ancient Persian Magician Discovered in Persepolis

Archaeologists were surprised to find the frieze of an ancient, dreaded sorcerer amongst the ruins of the Persepolis, Iran. His name is unknown, and researchers estimate that he lived during the rule of Darius circa 400 BC, tormenting the Achaemenian Emperor and causing unexplainable, confusing phenomena to occur. Whether or not this mysterious priest is actually buried within the Persepolis has yet to be determined.
