Avalanche is a game development studio. We created the Tak and the Power of Juju property for Nickelodeon and we were recently acquired by Disney. We are currently creating new properties and developing games based on Disney Feature Animation films.
This blog is a vehicle to help keep us creatively fresh and help us sharpen our skills... but mostly for fun.
Don't be afraid to be an ass, Adam! To be honest I've been kind of missing the days when we were trying to focus more on constructive criticism on this blog rather than just being cheerleaders for each other (though, some times that's nice too). So I thank you very much for your thoughts, I may pull some of the warmth out and keep it all in blues.
That hand I made fun of earlier is absolutely perfect, lighting, shape, etc. The chest is beautifully done, the hair and the entire piece too. Adam had a good point, I would suggest less texture in the background I think it distracts from the genius painting work you've done.

I made some of the changes you guys suggested. I simplified the background - a little less texture and I never really liked the snowflakes so I ditched those - I also pulled the warmth out of her face. I'm happier with it now, thanks guys.
All your work is amazing guys!!.. I hope you have a great year and that you have the time to keep shpwing me I still have a lot to learn.. HAPPY 2008 Everyone!!..
Don't know if you remember me, but you drew me a "stay out" sign for my bedroom in the 5th grade and I still have it in my trunk! Wow, It's pretty awesome to see you doing something like this. Does this mean now that your all famous I should sell my drawing on ebay? j/k
Man, Kevin this is pretty incredible! I love the attention to detail. The overall piece is really reminiscent of Maxfield Parrish.
