The official, unofficial blog of Avalanche Software employees.
Avalanche is a game development studio. We created the Tak and the Power of Juju property for Nickelodeon and we were recently acquired by Disney. We are currently creating new properties and developing games based on Disney Feature Animation films.
This blog is a vehicle to help keep us creatively fresh and help us sharpen our skills... but mostly for fun.

Link vs. Link
Remember when Link used to be an awesome scrappy little kid/elf? For all the graphical improvements that have come over the years, the newer versions of Link's design have definitely gone backward a few steps.
I agree with you, Sam. I especially hate that they gave the later Link earrings.
Great picture, by the way. The stark difference in size drives the point home, and as usual the lighting is excellent. Most people will probably miss it, but I love the stubby trees in the background that look like they came from Zelda 1.
And when the sword used to shoot hilt-less flashing rainbow swords? That was the REAL master sword.
ReplyDeleteI love this picture. I'll always love Zelda, but come on Nintendo... give us a dude who's ADVENTUROUS! Get some mud on them shoes.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to take your painting class next semester. You always have amazing stuff to show.
Nice work Sam! Funny concept

Totally agree!
ReplyDeleteThis has been my beef with the series as it has progressed as well. Did a similar drawing / riff here:
